USAGSO Episodic Volunteer Position Description
Summary:
Girl Scout Episodic Volunteers support specific events, activities, or short-term projects that help Girl Scouts grow into confident leaders and changemakers. Whether you're helping at a cookie booth, chaperoning a field trip, or leading a craft station at a troop meeting or community event, your contribution makes a lasting impact—without requiring a long-term commitment.

Expected Commitment:
As-needed basis/ flexible; typically, 2-8 hours per event or activity
Training Required:
Child Protection Training. ~ 1 hr. online at your own pace
Supervised by:
Troop Leader, OCMT Member, Council Volunteer, or USAGSO staff
Responsibilities:
• Assist with one-time events such as:
Cookie sales booths
Troop meetings or badge activities
Outdoor adventures (hikes, camping, nature walks)
Service unit or council-wide events
STEM, art, or community service activities
• Supervise and engage with Girl Scouts in a positive, respectful, and supportive manner
• Ensure a safe environment in line with Girl Scout policies and procedures
• Follow guidance from troop leaders, event coordinators, or staff
• Attend brief orientation or training as needed for specific tasks
Requirements:
• Commitment to lead by the Girl Scout Promise and Law
• Maintain annual adult Girl Scout membership
• Commitment to work with all without regard to race, ethnicity/culture, religion, socio-economic status, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, or differing abilities.
• To volunteer at an overnight event or handle Girl Scout money or property, episodic volunteers must also complete a background check (within the last 3 years). See the USAGSO background check policy for more details.
