Singapore Annual Events
There are several important and exciting Girls Scout events that take place every year in Singapore. Dates, times and locations are announced well in advance and published to all participating members as well as in the What's Happening calendar as they are planned.
Father Daughter Dance
The annual Father Daughter Dance is a chance for girls and their adult escort to come and have a fun evening at a themed party. Themes in the past have included: Bollywood, Luau, Sock Hop, Flower Power and a good ol' Hoedown.
Songfest
We kick off every new Girl Scout year in Singapore by holding our annual multimedia Songfest. Troops from all levels join together to sing various Girl Scout songs followed by an ice cream social.
Founder's Day
In October, we honor the birthday of the founder of USA Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low who was born on October, 31, Halloween. Past activities have included dragon boating, ice skating, kite flying, bowling and more.
Journey-in-a-Day
All the girls from the same levels (i.e. all the Brownies or all the Juniors) are invited to work together to earn a Journey award in just one day. The girls learn a lot and get to know other girls their same age.
School Fun Days
We typically hold year-end events for girls enrolled at the international schools with our biggest enrollment. Girls from Troops that are not directly connected with these schools can choose whichever event they would like to attend.
Closing Ceremony
We close the year with a multimedia "brag" ceremony, acknowledging the achievements of our girls and adult volunteers. Also, qualifying girls walk across a bridge on stage to "bridge up" to the next level. Guest speakers also inspire.
Second Chance Supplies
Every year, SAS donates some of their leftover school supplies. Girl Scouts sort and distribute them to charities in Singapore and around. Second Chance Supplies began as a Girl Scout Gold Award project and has become an annual tradition.
St Patrick's Day Parade
This family fun event is held on a Sunday around St. Patrick’s Day. Girl Scouts march as a group (in vests) alongside other colorful acts and groups. There are lots of festive activities once the parade ends.
Leader Daughter Event
This event is a special time for leaders and their daughters to spend some quality time together. In the past, we have gone bowling, learned to belly dance, made custom cards, crafted beaded jewelry and shared a high tea.
Singapore Scurry
This is our version of The Amazing Race for our older Girl Scouts who follow clues, racing all over Singapore, ending up at a big party. Cadettes are paired with Seniors and Ambassadors, resulting in new friendships and pride in their independence.
Overnight Camp
This is a fun, two-night weekend for Juniors and above. Girls rotate through activity stations, share a campfire, sing songs, exchange SWAPs and do capers (chores) – all while making new friends!
Day Camp
This camp is for our Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts. It's a time for the girls to get to know each other and to get to a taste of camp. Day Camp generally includes sports, arts & crafts, dinner and roasting s’mores at their very own campfire.
